TERM 1 ASSESSMENT ON LIFE AND LIVING: PHOTOSYNTHESIS

SECTION 1: PHOTOSYNTHESIS

You have completed the section on photosynthesis and you will now show everyone just how much you have learnt.

This is a group activity and a group mark will be allocated to each participant.

Instruction:

In groups of no less than 4 and not more than 8, you will make you own photosynthesis dance video by singing any one of the songs from the 3 videos found on the right.

Your video will be recorded by me and we will upload it to a private Youtube account where only we can see the video.

Your friends will have a chance to comment and like your video.

Please follow the rubric below to ensure that you meet all the requirements:

SECTION 2.1: Ecosystems

Now that you have learnt about different types of Ecosystems, you will be required to make a slideshow presentation on what you know. Read the criteria below:

  1. Your slide show must have a title page or introductory slide.
  2. You must identify 8 different types of ecosystems and you must find pictures on the internet (be sure to copy the URL of where you got it as a reference). You could also use a photo of an ecosystem.  If you want to make your own in MSPaint you may do so.  You could even draw an ecosystem and take a picture of it, upload it to your computer and add it to your presentation.  If you want to try something else you may, as long as it is an ecosystem.
  3. You must clearly label each ecosystem correctly, and describe some of the features of that ecosystem in your presentation.
  4. Once you are complete, you may upload your presentation on this webpage. Check the right hand column for the upload facility.  Alternatively you can upload the file on GOOGLE DRIVE in a special Folder I have created just for this Assessment.  You can find the link to this folder in the right hand column as well.
  5. Your presentation is a summative assessment and will count towards your term mark. Please check the Rubric below for a guide.

SECTION 2.2 Food Webs / Food Chains

The section on Food Chains and Food Webs was very interesting.  You can test your knowledge of the new words and concepts you learnt in this section, by completing an interesting 10 picture puzzle.  The link is on the right under resources.  Sit with a friend who can time you as you complete the puzzle. Once you complete it, swop around and you time your friend.  Record your times by writing down both your names and your times.

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT :

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT ON PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND ECOSYSTEMS:
As part of your Assessments for term 1 and to test how much you have learnt thus far, I have designed a Quiz for you in SOCRATIVE.  It is an online tool which provides students and teachers a platform to develop quizzes. 

You will need to complete the quiz by clicking on the Socrative logo.

The assessment covers the two sections which were just completed.  Photosynthesis and Ecosystems and Food Webs.

You can go over these sections in your books before you take the quiz, so that you are familiar with the questions. 

Do not use and materials when answering the quiz.  When you complete the quiz, your results will be calculated and analysed.  This quiz mark forms part of your term mark.

Yay so we have reached the last section for this term, and now you will need to complete a Summative assessment on Nutrition and Nutrients in Food.

To complete this assessment simply fill in the Google Form found on the right under Resources for this section.

Take you time and answer all the questions.
Complete all the fields and do not forget to fill in your personal details like your Name, Email address and Grade and class.

Your results will be emailed to you.
This assessment forms part of your term mark so take your time and answer the questions carefully.
